Hey yall!!! I’m baaack!!!!! Visited the Harris YMCA-Quail Hollow today!!! Get into this!! I hadn’t been here in several years however facility somewhat the same … although I feel like the large workout area has been unfitted ( not sure )…. It’s your “typical stranger danger” personalities from the clientele … everybody is about their workout this morning so not much friendliness from the crowd. Back in the Day at the DOWD we were making workout friends from the first visit . Not here. An occasional peek, or the “ tight lipped smile” …. Or the “ what are you doing here?” Look….or “ don’t start none and it won’t be none “stare….🤣🤣 It was cool. The parking is vast … and available this is a pretty large campus with the Ykids wing. Indoor upstairs track and a super large soccer mom workout room. Free weights and benches , a couple row machines, treadmills and ellipticals up there too…. Same in the large room downstairs. I was in the large room during my visit last time . Aquatic center /sauna/steamroom Upgraded lockers /adult locker room / family locker room… I spent my two hours and kept it pushing 💯 The staff , seated at the front where you scan your barcode , was friendly … she said good morning and smiled about my NEW ORLEANS SAINTS hat😊…. I couldn’t figure out if she was clowning me or not …. My team did just win a game last weekend…. Our exchange tickled me🤣 Another gentleman to her left also seated at a little podium like space was greeting everybody very warmly…. As if he knew those were the ONLY HELLOS that would be received during my visit. Can’t do anything about the guests that frequent this location … and that’s ok… The facility was nice. There’s Enough equipment to do what you need to do whether you’re a weightlifter at the Mr universe level or just doing your thirty minutes on a treadmill. Ladies you can even do the locker room treadmill or elliptical thing here like we did at the DOWD years ago…. Also there a a couple of easy chairs in the locker room… iron and ironing board… tv… magazines … great cool off … send email space. This was a great visit . Thank you HarrisYMCA!!! Finding lunch from this location is very easy… You could hit southpark mall or surrounding restaurants… Steak 48 isn’t far either. That’s my review Enjoy yourself! Let’s go EAT!!! #itsMeStef🙋🏾♀️ Stephanie.mclain@ig

A bit of an updated review, there are PROS and CONS to this place just like most things in life, etc. My house is about ~2 minutes away and I've been gong here for YEARS and many of the front staff know me on a first name basis so I can provide an objective review... More of a 3.5 stars. PROS: - Good location. For me at least, I definitely appreciate living a ~2 minute drive away (lol) and it's good for rainy days, bad weather, etc. it makes it very convenient for me. - Front staff, especially the owner/manager is/are definitely great and a gentlemen. No complaints there, etc - they've worked hard to address some of the CONS, which I will address later - Relatively "cleanish", they've done a good job of keeping the sanitary wipes, etc clean - They've addressed some of the old locker and locker room issues for the Men's side, so can't really complain too much there. There have been some updates, etc - so I appreciate that - the equipment, for a smaller gym (cardio and weights), is actually not too bad IMO - and they've done a good job of updating it over the years CONS: - The workout area (cardio and weights) is a SMALL area relatively speaking. This isn't a fault against management, the staff, etc as there's nothing you can really do about it. But it's definitely a big CON. It's small, I've seen Pilates studios that are even bigger size (lol). This segways into the next CON. - The front staff and management have done a great job of addressing this (they even put "reminders/stickers" on ALL the machines to address this), and, it has gotten a bit better. But the huge CON here is that many/most (not all) of the members can be EXTREMELY RUDE hogging up the equipment while not working out and lollygagging around, talking/chatting in the middle of the workout areas/hallways/etc (remember, this is a SMALL space), just generally "effing around" in a SMALL area. This wouldn't be an issue if this were a HUGE AREA or like a Lifetime Fitness (I used to go there), etc. But the "reality" is, it's a SMALL area and it's EXTREMELY RUDE and INCONSIDERATE to those who are there to actually work out and have stuff gong on outside of the gym (i.e. friends, plans, work, significant others, etc.). It has gotten "better" and the management has tried addressing this, and, it's not really their fault honestly - but it still is a bit of a CON. And, not to be mean, but, the irony of it is, generally the members who do this you can't even tell that they workout, are not in good shape/fit, etc - I have always found it a bit ironic (lol). Maybe if they actually went to the gym to actually work out (and ate correctly and lived a healthy lifestyle with good habits) they would actually have plans OUTSIDE of the gym (lol). I've always found it a bit funny. Again, the CONS are really not a shot at the management or staff in general, as they've tried addressing it. It's not their fault, but they are still CONS at the end of the day. You can't exactly make the space larger or "redo" it. And, you can't exactly teach common courtesy, manners, etc for people that just don't have them or take care of themselves. So, thus, neither really a good/bad gym - just in the middle. 3.5 stars Cheers
