Good parking lot & toilets are available. The challenge of the trail is to climb that 1048 uneven steep steps that made from old military railroad ties without any shades. For first time hikers, beside good physical conditions, bring along stamina, strong will & endurance. dress code depends on the day. It could be very sunny all the way, windy on the top. Time the hike with a plan is always a good idea. The 360 degree views on top is most rewarding. There are much of information & reviews online.

Awesome nearly 2 mile hike but with 1k in elevation. Large lot with free parking - plenty of spots at 6am open to get to the summit by sunrise, plus plenty around 7:30 when I was done. When you get to the bridge, you can take the path to the right for a much easier and safer route.

This is not for someone that does not do some regular physical activity. I’m 62 and in reasonably good shape and by the end I felt like my heart was beating out of my chest. However, it’s a unique hike and there was a sense of accomplishment making it to the top. Once there, the views are spectacular.

Kinda boring. Basically just going up an old tramway. The views on the top are nice but not better than on other hikes in the area. Also, it gets very crowded. Good fitness level required.

If you are worried about bathrooms, there is one at the bottom near the baseball field. Go before you head up on the trail. I’m sure you can also step off the trail and go behind some bushes if you really needed to. This is basically a 10 minute hike to the base of the steps. Then it is 1048 steps to the top. 5 of us went, I only made it 40% of the way up. Had to stop a lot towards the end. Every 10-20 steps. There is barely any shade. But there are plenty of areas on the side for you to step off to allow others to go ahead without blocking them. Two of my kids got to the 50% mark right before this goes vertical. My oldest went up about 75%. My wife went all the way up to the platform about 98% from the top. I went down with my kids who didn’t want to make the hike up the steep part. Maybe next time.
