Lovely park in a residential area. Sat on a bench near the water on a Friday afternoon in early May and saw lots of people walking their dogs, going on runs, etc. Park rangers regularly patrol, so there were no homeless people. There’s a playground and lots of open grass (with soccer goals) to relax or play. Because it’s in a residential area there was some construction noise, but that’s to be expected. Portapotties exist but are not well maintained, with graffiti and no toilet paper. No number to call for maintenance either.

Sloan’s lake this, Wash Park that, but have you heard of my new favorite park: Huston Lake? I can’t believe I’ve lived in this city for four years and didn’t know about this magnificent park until now! It’s so incredibly gorgeous and amenities-full. There’s a playground, tennis court, pickleball court, a ton of picnic tables, and beautiful trees. The loop path around the park is well-maintained, and I’ve loved seeing kiddos and older folks be able to bike recreationally around the lake. There is a bike rack in the middle of a bunch of picnic spots. The only negative is the lack of speed cushions installed in perimeter roads. People tend to speed and rev their engines here and they can do so because DOTI hasn’t done a thing to ensure otherwise. I had a beautiful time eating my vegetarian banh mi from New Saigon Bakery and enjoying the beautiful view. I must say - this park is one of Denver’s best kept secrets.

One of my favorite parks in Denver. Beautiful mountain views, a nice one mile loop trail, large grassy areas at the west and east sides of the park, pickleball, tennis courts, basketball court (one of the hoops is a little wonky but still playable) and a small playground. I always love seeing the cormorants dry their feathers on their perch tree, and there are lots of birds that come visit for a few days or weeks throughout the year.
