Hiawatha Davis Jr Recreation Center

We live within walking distance which is nice. The gym is decent and has a good variety of machines. We use the pool a couple times a week and it feels like at least once a month, we show up after checking the online calendar only to find out the pool is closed. Extremely frustrating and just a communications failure on the part of the staff and management of this location. Really wanted to support a city-run facility but I guess you get what you pay for.

Location is good. Facility is nice. Staff is great. Unfortunately someone broke into my locker here so I wouldn’t trust the locker rooms. Exercise with vigilance!

The gym was nice and big, great work a workout. I cant wait to go use the pool.

Love this place. Affordable decent facilities. In the gym I’ve used the bikes, elliptical, treadmill and weights. They have a run track above the gym. I also really enjoy swimming laps in their pool with all the natural light and access to a newly renovated ladies locker room. Staff is also very helpful and friendly.

At one time id give this a 4 -5 star rating but my experience over the past year has been unfavorable. The gym floors are dirty and the benches/ bleachers are discussing and dirty. I was told the floors get cleaned every week SMH. Some of the front desk staff are rude and not welcoming. I've yet to see a staff member or director get involved with activities with kids or adults. I recall having to report how the upper track was dirty. This is a beautiful facility but it's not well maintained and the staff appear to not have any interest in keeping the ip keep of it. SMH
