It's a nice facility with lots to offer, however the people here are overwhelmingly rude. Not the staff, they seem nice, but the clientele has a culture of selfish and inconsiderate behavior that I just don't want any part of. I have tried a variety of classes in various spaces and times, and with different instructors, but it's always the same: Rude people taking whatever they want and bullying anyone who is quiet and polite. Other Ys are not like this. This is the worst Y experience I have ever had.

Just got off the phone with a receptionist who was working @11:48am on Oct. 14, 2025. She was very rude and hung up very abruptly without me finishing what I was saying. She sounded like she had an attitude as soon as she answered the call. I asked her a question about using Peach State to become a member here and if the gym was included with the family membership because there were 2 separate options being family and gym. She told me to hold on and then came back and told me what to do to get a voucher for the membership. I already knew how and that is not what I needed answered. So I asked again "ok so the gym is included in the family plan?" And in a very sarcastically rude way, she said "um yes, this is a gym." Like the Y doesn't have other activities other than a gym. There's swimming, a place for kids, sports, etc. So no it's not just a gym. And I said "oh, ok" she said again in a rude tone with an attitude "mhm. Ok. Thank you have a good day" and hung up before I got to say anything else. I hope the conversation was recorded and HR can listen to it. Don't take your attitude or you having a bad day out on customers or potential customers. I will not be coming to this YMCA. I will drive further to another one. Businesses need to remember that one person can ruin the whole company. Be careful who you hire. I wouldn't want this person working for a company created to help people.

The YMCA imposed a 20% price increase with no advance communication, while staff—who are consistently helpful—received no raises and facilities saw no meaningful improvements. It’s hard not to conclude that this increase benefits executives rather than members or frontline employees. Disappointing and not in line with the community-focused values the YMCA claims to represent. I expect so much more from the YMCA than just another scam-economy business.

Nice place but unfortunately after coming about a dozen times, I can say it is severely over capacity when it comes to fitness rooms. Expect to wait for most machines, and even in free weights, the benches are high traffic

I came to east lake as a guest I took Joy F. class and I must say she is amazing. I wanted to quit mid way but glad I didn't, she pushed me beyond my comfort zone. I'm so glad I stayed, now I know what I'm capable of. I wouldn't have learned this if I left. We need more instructors to challenge us, not be complacent! She's a gem!
