We hosted our February 2025 wedding at Chicago Athletic Association and were very happy with our experience. First and foremost, the venue itself is striking. We wanted a venue with complex, historical detail and CAA delivers. The hotel under went an extensive historical restoration in 2015 and the preservation of architectural details is striking. A few offerings that made Chicago Athletic Association unique compared to other downtown hotel venues that we toured: -They only host one wedding per weekend, so your event is their only focus. - You have access to both their Madison and White City Ballroom for your reception and ceremony. So there is not a "take-down" of one space before it is transformed from ceremony to reception. -Dinner is made to order off of a pri fixe menu that you develop in advance with their catering team. Guests do not need to select their meal in advance. - You are given extensive access to the hotel for photography, which is not allowed if not hosting your event with the hotel. Hannah was our point person for food and beverage and was very communicative and helpful. We truly enjoyed working with her and cannot give enough positive feedback on the food prepared by CAA's head chef and catering team. Many of our guests complimented that it was the best food they had every experienced at a wedding. Our New York strips were a generous 14oz and each cooked to a perfect medium rare. The salmon was flavorful and served on a creamy garlic infused bed of pasta. The starters were creative, think winter citrus with burrata or garlic and ginger carrot soup. The options were limitless as the head chef meets with you personally to discuss your tastes and preferences before curating a menu. Their bar offerings were also extensive and we chose to partner with their in house restaurant, Cindy's rooftop and bar, to curate custom cocktails for us. The drinks were balanced, strong and exceeded anyone's expectations of the typical well drinks served at a wedding. While the hotel did provide extensive services on site including catering and a food and beverage coordinator, bar packages, hotel room block, etc. All of our external vendors were happy to work with the hotel and complimented the staff on how accommodating they were to work with. Overall our experience with the hotel staff outside of the special events team was positive. We did have one negative interaction with the person working the main floor lobby in regards to our photography, and a bit of a negative interaction with the game room bartender seemingly underwhelmed with our last call for drinks after the reception. Otherwise our interactions with the hotel staff were positive. For accommodations, the hotel offers a suite for the bride and groom and also for parents. We chose to upgrade to one of their unique Founders Suites which made a gorgeous backdrop for pictures. If you are looking for an elegant, historical venue with a strongly executed food and beverage program that absolutely blows away typical catered wedding fair, check CAA out. We were very happy with our choice!

Cons: The room was hot and the A/C did nothing at all to cool the room. We had to keep the windows open the entire time which did allow us to hear the symphony of never ending sirens and every flight loudly depending from O’Hare. The bathroom is essentially a wet room since there is no way to keep from flooding the bathroom floor because there is a glass wall that only covers about 25% of the shower opening. The cost of the room is WAY too high. Maybe it was because of Valentine’s Day, which would explain why we couldn’t get another room. Pros: The staff is amazing. Everyone was very friendly and knowledgeable. The location can’t be beat. It’s right across from Millennium Park and Lake Michigan. The building itself is very cool and cozy. The breakfast was very good as well. To wrap it up, if all the rooms have the same heating/cooling issues, and I believe they do given other reviews, I’d look elsewhere next time.

The Hotel is great, only complaint is i went to the game room for eat and watch Superbowl and when i call one of the employees to see who can take my order he told me that would be better if i sit at the bar because the servers don't pay attention to that area. I didn't feel comfortable on the bar the chair was moving like it was going to break, the service could be better, but they were occupied making jokes. The chicken of the nachos looks more like chicken patty burger, i ended leaving and eating in the burger place downstairs. As a person that work in the industry and part of the Hyatt was kind of disappointed it. Hskp services was 10/10 and Front Desk Attendant were 10/10 Fitness Center was great.

I was a guest at Chicago Athletic Association Jan 10 through the 12th, 2026. The service from front desk to food service and housekeeping was absolutely excellent. Though the room was small, it was immaculately clean. If old-world architectural features and details are meaningful to you, this hotel is a masterpiece in its own right. Make sure you take the tour with "Jean", and "Zena" is an expert in getting you informed and settled into your quarters. This is truly a Chicago "gem" with many athletic offerings like pickleball, roller skating, basketball, yoga, as its name suggests. This Hotel's location to Chicago's best offerings cannot be beat.

The hotel Looks amazing. I left my original review. I was contacted by the manager personally and asked if I would come and speak with her to go over my experience. I have to acknowledge that they did everything they could to make things better and genuinely seemed concerned about who this staff members were so they can work on their service. There’s absolutely zero service at this hotel. You walk in to be greeted by nobody and they rudely tell you just to go upstairs to check in. The room itself had no storage space or charm. It had amazing 10+ foot windows, but you can’t close the curtains because they do not slide. Therefore, you wake up with the sun shining directly in your eyes. Even my wife who loves to wake up before the sun comes up was not happy with it. We decided to try out the different places in the hotel only for them to rudely Tell us we had to leave. I completely understand that there is a closing time, but there’s no reason for somebody to yell at you twice in a place called the game room.
